There is created the Kankakee River Valley Area Airport Authority, a body corporate and politic, to consist of 8 members. Four members shall be appointed by the Kankakee County Board. Four members shall be appointed by the Will County Board. No person shall be appointed to the Authority who is an elected official of the State of Illinois or any political subdivision thereof.
     The terms of all members of the Authority shall begin 30 days after the effective date of this Act. Two members shall serve until the third Monday in January 1993, 2 shall serve until the third Monday in January 1994, 2 shall serve until the third Monday in January 1995 and 2 shall serve until the third Monday in January 1996. All successors shall be appointed by the original appointing authority and hold office for a term of 5 years commencing the third Monday in January of the year in which their term commences, except in the case of an appointment to fill a vacancy. Vacancies shall be filled for the remainder of the term. Five members of the Authority shall constitute a quorum.

Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 15/4

  • County board: means the board of county commissioners in counties not under township organization, and the board of supervisors in counties under township organization, and the board of commissioners of Cook County. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.07
  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
  • oath: shall be deemed to include an affirmation, and the word "sworn" shall be construed to include the word "affirmed. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.12
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14

     Members, while serving on business of the Authority, shall receive reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred while so serving. In addition, each member shall receive compensation of $150 per day for each day served at regular or special meetings approved by the chairman, except that such compensation shall not exceed $7,500 in any year for any member.
     Each member shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe to the constitutional oath of office and give bond in the penal sum of $100,000 conditioned upon the faithful performance of his duties. The oath and bond shall be filed in the Office of the Secretary of State.
