Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 2205/29.2

  • County board: means the board of county commissioners in counties not under township organization, and the board of supervisors in counties under township organization, and the board of commissioners of Cook County. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.07
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The votes shall be canvassed and returned in the manner provided for public measures submitted to the electors of the entire State, including the provisions for tally sheets, certificates of results, canvassing and abstracts of votes. Each municipal board of election commissioners shall make its return to the county clerk of the county in which it is located; the county clerks and any county board of election commissioners shall each make returns covering the entire area of their respective counties within the district to the State Board of Elections. Each county clerk and board of election commissioners shall prepare and certify an abstract of votes cast on the proposition in the precincts within its election jurisdiction.
