Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 410/9

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
     All courts shall take judicial notice of the existence of a conservation district and of the area of jurisdiction of an existing district and every such district shall constitute a body corporate and politic and as such may sue and be sued in all courts.
