Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 70 ILCS 5/22.6

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
     The Rail Authority and the Rail Corporation shall be exempt from all State and unit of local government taxes and registration and license fees. All property of the Rail Authority or of the Rail Corporation shall be public property devoted to an essential public and governmental function and purpose and shall be exempt from all taxes and special assessments of the State, any subdivision of the State, or any unit of local government.
