Terms Used In Indiana Code 31-13-2-3

  • Common law: The legal system that originated in England and is now in use in the United States. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.
   Sec. 3. A child of a common law marriage that was consummated before January 2, 1958, is considered to be a child of a valid marriage.
