Terms Used In Indiana Code 4-6-13-7

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • unit: refers to the identity theft unit established under section 2 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 4-6-13-1
   Sec. 7. The establishment of the unit and the unit’s powers does not limit the jurisdiction of an entity described in section 6 of this chapter.
