Terms Used In Indiana Code > Title 31 > Article 39 - Juvenile Law: Juvenile Records

  • Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • Forgery: The fraudulent signing or alteration of another's name to an instrument such as a deed, mortgage, or check. The intent of the forgery is to deceive or defraud. Source: OCC
  • Issuing body: means the state of Indiana, its agencies, commissions, universities, colleges, institutions, political subdivisions, counties, school corporations, hospital associations, municipal and quasi-municipal corporations, special taxing districts, and any corporation which has issued bonds payable directly or indirectly from lease rentals payable by any of the foregoing issuing bodies now or hereafter existing under the laws of the state.   • Joint resolution: A legislative measure which requires the approval of both chambers.
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
