Under the Iowa Code, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:| Class | Prison | Fine |

Failure on the part of a public official to perform any of the duties prescribed in chapter 73A, this chapter, section 8.39, andsections 11.1, 11.2, 11.4, and 11.5, constitutes a simple misdemeanor, and is sufficient ground for removal from office.
