Terms Used In Iowa Code 684.9

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • year: means twelve consecutive months. See Iowa Code 4.1
684.9 Extinguishment of claim for relief.
A claim for relief with respect to a transfer or obligation under this chapter is extinguished unless action is brought as follows:
1. Under § 684.4, subsection 1, paragraph “”a””, not later than four years after the
transfer was made or the obligation was incurred or, if later, not later than one year after the transfer or obligation was or could reasonably have been discovered by the claimant.
2. Under § 684.4, subsection 1, paragraph “”b””, or § 684.5, subsection 1, not
later than four years after the transfer was made or the obligation was incurred.
3. Under § 684.5, subsection 2, not later than one year after the transfer was made.
