Terms Used In Iowa Code > Chapter 455F - Household Hazardous Material

• Commission: means the state environmental protection commission. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
• Department: means the department of natural resources. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Director: means the director of the department or the director's designee. See Iowa Code 462A.2
• distributor: means a person other than a manufacturer or manufacturer's agent who engages in the business of selling or distributing a household hazardous material within the state, for the purpose of resale. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Household hazardous material: means a product used for residential purposes and designated by rule of the department of natural resources and may include any hazardous substance as defined in section 455B. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Manufacturer: means a person who manufactures or produces a household hazardous material for resale in this state. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Operator: means a person who operates or is in actual physical control of a vessel. See Iowa Code 462A.2
• Owner: means a person, other than a lienholder, having the property right in or title to a motorboat or vessel. See Iowa Code 462A.2
• Person: means an individual, partnership, firm, corporation, or association. See Iowa Code 462A.2
• Regional collection center: means a secured facility at which collection, sorting, and packaging of household hazardous materials and hazardous materials from conditionally exempt small quantity generators are accomplished prior to transportation of these materials to the final disposal site. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Residential: means a permanent place of abode, which is a person's home as opposed to a person's place of business. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Retailer: means a person offering for sale or selling a household hazardous material to the ultimate consumer, within the state. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• Rule: includes "regulation". See Iowa Code 4.1
• Satellite facility: means a secured facility at which collection and storage of household hazardous materials and hazardous materials from conditionally exempt small quantity generators are accomplished prior to transportation of these materials to a regional collection center. See Iowa Code 455F.1
• state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
• Use: means to operate, navigate, or employ a vessel. See Iowa Code 462A.2
• year: means twelve consecutive months. See Iowa Code 4.1
