Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 12-817

  • City: means any city in this state. See Kansas Statutes 12-870
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Person: means a natural person, a public agency, private corporation, firm, partnership, cooperative association or business trust of any nature whatsoever, organized and existing under the laws of any state or of the United States. See Kansas Statutes 12-886
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The governing body of any city acquiring a waterworks plant, or part thereof, may make a contract with any person, city or corporation, located within or without this state, for the purchase and supplying of water for all purposes to such city for its own use or to supply all other consumers.
