Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 12-823

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

Any public or municipally owned utility violating any of the provisions of this act shall be subject to a penalty of not less than five dollars ($5) nor exceeding twenty-five dollars ($25) to be recovered in any court of competent jurisdiction, which penalty shall be paid to the state treasurer pursuant to Kan. Stat. Ann. § 20-2801, and any amendments thereto.
