Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 12-825g

  • City: means any city in this state. See Kansas Statutes 12-870
  • General election: refers to the election required to be held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November of each even-numbered year. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The governing body of any city of the second class which has transferred surpluses to the community and utility promotion fund, as authorized by subsection (b) of Kan. Stat. Ann. § 12-825d, may expend the moneys in said fund for the purpose of promotion of or cooperating in the promotion of industrial development within or without the corporate limits of such city, and also for the purpose of promoting the use of water, fuel, power or light furnished from the waterworks, fuel, power or lighting plant of such city and also for the purpose of advertising and promotion of the sale of electricity and water. No such transfers or expenditures shall be made until the question of transferring and expending same for such purposes shall have been submitted to a vote of the people at a regular city or general election in such city and shall have received a majority of all the votes cast at such election.
