Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 3-144b

  • Fee simple: Absolute title to property with no limitations or restrictions regarding the person who may inherit it.
  • Governing body: shall be construed and held to mean board of county commissioners of any county, mayor and councilmen or board of commissioners of any city, and any other governing body or board of a municipality having authority under the laws of this state to create indebtedness against the municipality. See Kansas Statutes 3-119a

Whenever any such city has acquired fee simple title to real estate for use as an airport or flying field and, whenever in the opinion of the governing body of such city such airport or field is no longer needed, it may, upon completion of any outstanding leases on same, discontinue such airport and sell such real estate or any portion, parcel or tract thereof. Before transferring and conveying any of said real estate, such governing body shall by resolution find and determine that such real estate is no longer needed for airport purposes and that it is to the best interests of the city that same be sold.
