Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 47-1203

  • Commissioner: means the animal health commissioner of the state of Kansas. See Kansas Statutes 47-1201
  • Disposal plant: means a place of business or a location where the carcasses of domestic animals or packing house refuse is purchased, received or unloaded and where such carcasses or refuse are processed for the purpose of obtaining the hide, skin, grease, residue, or any other byproduct from the animal or refuse, in any way whatsoever. See Kansas Statutes 47-1201
  • Residence: means the place which is adopted by a person as the person's place of habitation and to which, whenever the person is absent, the person has the intention of returning. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

(a) Application for such license shall be made to the commissioner on forms provided by the commissioner, which application shall set forth: (1) The name and residence of the applicant; (2) the proposed place of business; (3) the location of the proposed disposal plant, all proposed substations and all places of transfer; (4) the particular method which applicant intends to employ in the disposal of such carcasses and packing house refuse; (5) the number and kind of vehicles the applicant intends to use and the proposed methods of operation; and (6) such other information as the commissioner may require.

(b) Each application for license shall be accompanied by a fee in an amount set by the Kansas animal health board and adopted by rules and regulations of the commissioner of not more than $525 for each disposal plant. The fee established by this subsection on the day preceding the effective date of this act shall continue in effect until a different fee is set as provided under this subsection.
