Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 58-4220

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Manufactured home: means a structure which:

    (1) Is transportable in one or more sections which, in the traveling mode, is 8 body feet or more in width or 40 body feet or more in length, or, when erected on site, is 320 or more square feet, and which is built on a permanent chassis and designed to be used as a dwelling, with or without permanent foundation, when connected to the required utilities, and includes the plumbing, heating, air conditioning and electrical systems contained therein; and

    (2) is subject to the federal manufactured home construction and safety standards established pursuant to 42 U. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

From and after July 1, 2006, a municipality may inspect or cause to be inspected by qualified individuals any manufactured home installed within the municipality’s jurisdiction. Any such inspection shall be limited to a determination that the installation of the manufactured home complies with the installation standards prescribed by the duly adopted rules and regulations of the corporation, or the standards promulgated by the municipality in accordance with Kan. Stat. Ann. § 58-4217, and amendments thereto. A municipality may impose a reasonable fee to cover the costs of such inspection.
