  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

If any clause, section, phrase or word of this act be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason by any court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining portion or portions of this act shall be and remain in full force and as valid as if such clause, section, phrase or word had not been incorporated therein.
