Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 66-1330

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
  • Wrecker or towing service: means the act of transporting, towing or recovering with a wrecker, tow truck or car carrier, any vehicle not owned by the operator of the wrecker, tow truck or car carrier for which the operator receives compensation or other personal gain, either directly or indirectly, except that such terms shall not include a private wrecker or towing service. On and after January 1, 1995, it is unlawful for any person to provide wrecker or towing service within this state without first having obtained a certificate of public service from the state corporation commission.
