Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 66-1,108a

  • Commission: means the state corporation commission. See Kansas Statutes 66-101a
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

As applied to the regulation of motor carriers, the provisions of this act and all grants of power, authority and jurisdiction herein made to the state corporation commission shall be liberally construed, and all incidental powers necessary to carry into effect the provisions of this act are expressly granted to and conferred upon the state corporation commission.
