Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 76-17a10

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The Rainbow unit of the Osawatomie state hospital is hereby established as a separate state institution which shall be designated and known as the Rainbow mental health facility. The Rainbow mental health facility shall be operated and managed within the division of community services and programs of the Kansas department for aging and disability services and in accordance with the laws and rules and regulations governing the other state institutions under the jurisdiction of such division. In accordance with rules and regulations adopted by the secretary for aging and disability services under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 76-12a07, and amendments thereto, any person who is a resident of this state and who is in need of the services provided by the Rainbow mental health facility shall be eligible for admission to such facility.
