Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 82a-1339

  • Chief engineer: means the chief engineer of the division of water resources of the Kansas department of agriculture. See Kansas Statutes 82a-1301
  • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

If the organization of the proposed water assurance district is defeated at the election or if the petition, as required by Kan. Stat. Ann. § 82a-1335, is disapproved by the chief engineer, the steering committee named in the petition shall determine the amount of money necessary to pay all of the costs and expenses incurred in the preparation and filing of the petition and in the conduct of the election and the steering committee shall assume the obligation for the payment of such costs and expenses but no cost shall be assessed by any state agency.
