  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.

Section 4.  Beginning with the fiscal year commencing on July 1, 1973, and in each such fiscal year thereafter, there shall be paid for the endowment and support of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, from the general fund of the state the sum of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00) which amount shall be in lieu of the same amount prescribed to be paid to it for its endowment and support from the avails of the tax presently being levied on taxable property in the state pursuant to La. Const. Art. XII, § 17 .
