Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:232

  • Corporation: means the Louisiana Economic Development and Gaming Corporation, which except as specifically provided in this Chapter shall be a special corporation operated for a public purpose, the ownership interest of which is vested in the state. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
  • Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.

The corporation may retain or appoint one or more attorneys at law to serve as an independent hearing officer who may administer oaths and receive evidence and testimony under oath.  Except as otherwise provided in this Chapter, the independent hearing officer may make recommendations or render decisions affecting contracts, licenses, and permits issued pursuant to the provisions of this Chapter and rules promulgated by the corporation.
