Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 38:458

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

In case for any cause it becomes necessary to enforce payment of the principal of or the interest on any bonds issued under this Subpart, any court of competent jurisdiction at the joint or separate suit of any holder or holders of the bonds may require the tax collector of the parish or parishes in which any of the territory of the district may be located, under the direction and orders of the court, to proceed to levy and collect the taxes and local contributions levied in La. Rev. Stat. 38:456 and to pay the amount so collected into the state treasury.  The amount so paid shall not be used for any other purpose than to pay the interest on and the principal of the bonds.
