Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 38:479

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

In case for any cause it becomes necessary to enforce payment of the principal and interest of the improvement bonds, any court of competent jurisdiction, at the joint or separate suit of any holder of bonds of the board, may require the tax collector of the parish or parishes in which any of the territory of the district which issued the bonds may be located, under the direction and orders of the court, to proceed to levy and collect the taxes and local contributions levied in La. Rev. Stat. 38:477 and to pay the amount so collected into the state treasury.  The amount so paid shall not be used for any other purpose than to pay the interest and principal of the bonds.
