The provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 45:1097.1-1097.5 shall be construed to apply to any common carrier by motor vehicle as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 45:162(5), any contract carrier by motor vehicle as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 45:162(6), and motor carriers as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 45:162(10), all of which terms are sometimes hereinafter referred to as motor carrier or motor carriers, except to the extent that any of said definitions apply to the transportation of persons or passengers for hire.
