Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 13:1622
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Pleadings: Written statements of the parties in a civil case of their positions. In the federal courts, the principal pleadings are the complaint and the answer.
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
The rules of evidence, the pleadings, and other matters in the trial of cases in the juvenile court shall be the same as are provided for the trial of cases in the juvenile courts of the state. Appeals from judgments or orders of the juvenile court shall lie in the same manner as is provided by law governing appeals in similar matters from the juvenile courts of the state.
