Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 15:151

  • Board: means the Louisiana Public Defender Board authorized to regulate public defender services. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 15:143
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.

            A. A majority of the voting members shall constitute a quorum for transacting business. A vote of a majority of the membership of the board shall be required to take action on any issue.

            B. Members of the board shall receive per diem at the same rate as members of the legislature for each day the board meets. They shall also receive reimbursement for travel, lodging, and other expenses at the rate established for state employees.

            C. The board shall elect a vice chairman. The chairman and the vice chairman shall serve two-year terms. The board shall select other necessary officers from among its membership.

            D. All meetings of the board shall be open and subject to the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 42:11 et seq. A record of all proceedings at regular and special meetings of the board shall be kept and shall be open to public inspection, except as otherwise provided by La. Rev. Stat. 42:17.
