Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 2:132

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Political subdivision: as used in this Part means any parish of this state as well as any city or county of another adjoining or adjacent state which is authorized by the law of that state to engage in a joint endeavor for the creation and operation of an airport district with a political subdivision of this state. A.  Any lands acquired, owned, leased, controlled, or occupied by such cities, towns, or other political subdivisions for the purposes enumerated in La. Rev. Stat. 2:131 are acquired, owned, leased, controlled, or occupied for public, governmental, and municipal purposes.

B.  No property expropriated or otherwise acquired for such purposes shall ever, directly or indirectly, be sold or donated to any foreign power, any alien, or any corporation in which the majority of the stock is controlled by any foreign power, alien corporation, or alien, or to any other state or political subdivision thereof so as to divest the sovereignty of the state wherein the same is located.
