Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:1994.1

  • fireman: as used in this Subpart includes all persons employed or engaged full-time by municipalities or municipal fire departments, parishes or parish fire departments, or fire protection districts for firefighting, fire prevention, fire record clerk, fire investigation, fire protection, or emergency duties and services, or the fire training officers of such persons. Except in the case of a bona fide emergency, such as a hurricane, other natural disaster, or terrorist attack, no fireman as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 33:1991(A) shall be required to be on duty with a municipal fire department, parish fire department, or fire protection district for more than seventy-two consecutive hours.  Any fireman who has been on duty for seventy-two consecutive hours shall be entitled to be off duty for a minimum of twenty-four hours before being required to return to duty.
