Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:4545.32

  • Authority: shall mean the political subdivision and body politic and corporate created, organized and existing pursuant to the provisions of this Chapter, or if the Authority shall be abolished, the board, body, commission, department or officer succeeding to the principal functions thereof or to whom the powers given by this chapter may be given by law. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:4545.3
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The Authority shall not construct facilities for the transmission of electric power and energy unless it cannot provide for such by contract with investor-owned electric power companies with available existing transmission facilities under fair and reasonable terms and conditions or unless ordered to do so by a regulatory authority having jurisdiction.
