Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 38:2335

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

In addition to the powers imposed in the Authority under the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 38:2332 above, the Authority shall have the right to own and operate such toll bridges over or ferries and ferry service across any of the waters under its jurisdiction as may in its opinion be necessary to provide adequate facilities for the traveling public.
