Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 39:2181

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.

            A. This Chapter shall apply to any contract or cooperative endeavor agreement that results from any bid or other award governed under Chapter 17 of this Title. However, provided that other applicable provisions of the Procurement Code are followed, this Chapter shall not apply to any purchase by a state agency directly from a vessel manufacturer or an outboard motor manufacturer.

            B. For the purpose of this Chapter, “public entity” shall mean any agency, board, commission, department, or public corporation of the state, created by the constitution or statute or pursuant thereto, or any political subdivision of the state, including but not limited to any political subdivision as defined by La. Const. Art. VI, § 44 , and any public housing authority, public school board, or any public officer whether or not an officer of a public corporation or political subdivision.
