Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 1820

  • Director: means the Director of the Bureau of Parks and Lands. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 12 Sec. 1801
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • lands: includes lands and all tenements and hereditaments connected therewith, and all rights thereto and interests therein. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Municipality: includes cities, towns and plantations, except that "municipality" does not include plantations in Title 10, chapter 110, subchapter IV; or Title 30?A, Part 2. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
Seven percent of all day use and camping fees derived from any lands classified by the director as parks or historic sites under jurisdiction of the bureau must be apportioned and paid to the municipalities having those lands within their boundaries. In determining the payment to each municipality, the bureau shall assign one unit per front foot for each foot of lake, pond, ocean or major river frontage and 5 units for each acre of all such lands within the municipality. Frontage and acreage must be determined as of April 1st for the year in which revenue is being apportioned and computed to the nearest whole unit. [PL 2005, c. 457, Pt.
