- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
In imposing a sentencing alternative under section 1502 that includes a period of probation, the court shall set a definite period of probation. [PL 2019, c. 113, Pt. A, §2 (NEW).]
