- Dog: means a member of the genus and species known as canis familiaris or any canine, regardless of generation, resulting from the interbreeding of a member of canis familiaris with a wolf hybrid as defined in subsection 30. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 17 Sec. 1011
A cat or dog may not be destroyed by any method, agent or device except as described in this subchapter, subchapter III and Title 7, chapter 739. [PL 1995, c. 490, §27 (AMD).]
