• Airport authority: means a quasi-municipal entity formed and chartered pursuant to this chapter to operate an airport and provide air transportation services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 6 Sec. 172
• Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

• Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
• Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
• Duty of support: means an obligation imposed or imposable by law to provide support for a child, spouse or former spouse, including an unsatisfied obligation to provide support. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 2802
• Escrow: Money given to a third party to be held for payment until certain conditions are met.
• Extradition: The formal process of delivering an accused or convicted person from authorities in one state to authorities in another state.
• Fiduciary: A trustee, executor, or administrator.
• Financial institution: means a universal bank or limited purpose bank organized under the provisions of this Title, and a trust company, nondepository trust company, savings bank, industrial bank or savings and loan association organized under the prior laws of this State. • Governing body: means the body that oversees the affairs of a financial institution. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 9-B Sec. 131
• lands: includes lands and all tenements and hereditaments connected therewith, and all rights thereto and interests therein. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
• Law: includes decisional and statutory law and rules and regulations having the force of law. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 19-A Sec. 2802
