Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2959

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • Person: means an individual, corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, limited liability company, association, joint venture, public corporation, government or governmental subdivision, agency or instrumentality or any other legal or commercial entity.   • Tissue: means a portion of the human body other than an organ or an eye. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 2942
A person‘s decision to make a donation of that person’s own body, organ or tissue after death must be honored. In the absence of a revocation or amendment under section 2946, health care providers and procurement organizations shall act in accordance with the donor‘s decision and may take appropriate actions to effect the gift.
