Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 4197

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
The executive head of each jurisdiction party to this compact shall designate an officer who is to be the general coordinator of activities under this compact in the officer’s jurisdiction and who, acting jointly with like officers of other party jurisdictions, has power to adopt rules to carry out more effectively the terms and provisions of this compact.
