  • Precedent: A court decision in an earlier case with facts and law similar to a dispute currently before a court. Precedent will ordinarily govern the decision of a later similar case, unless a party can show that it was wrongly decided or that it differed in some significant way.
The council shall prepare and adopt a biennial budget for presentation to the Governor and the Legislature as a request for appropriations sufficient to carry out its statutory responsibilities. The council may accept contributions of any type from any source to assist it in carrying out its responsibilities and to make arrangements regarding the administration of these funds as may be required as a condition precedent to the receipt of these funds by the Federal Government or any other source. The council may employ an executive director who shall be the principal administrative and executive employee of the council. The executive director may hire staff as necessary to carry out the responsibilities for the coordination of all affairs of the council including, but not limited to, the training and education of volunteers, health care professionals and the general public. The executive director is also responsible for advocacy on behalf of community hospices throughout the State. The executive director may obtain office space, goods and services as required to carry out these responsibilities. [PL 1989, c. 596, Pt. F, §2 (NEW).]
