Any person who causes or is responsible for a discharge in violation of section 543 is not subject to any fines or civil penalties if that person: [PL 1991, c. 66, Pt. A, §18 (RPR).]
1. Report and remove. Reports within 2 hours and promptly removes the discharge in accordance with the rules and orders of the board or commissioner; and

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 38 Sec. 550
- Discharge: means any spilling, leaking, pumping, pouring, emitting, escaping, emptying or dumping. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 38 Sec. 542
- Fund: means the Maine Ground and Surface Waters Clean-up and Response Fund. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 38 Sec. 542
- Person: shall mean any natural person, firm, association, partnership, corporation, trust, the State of Maine and any agency thereof, governmental entity, quasi-governmental entity, the United States of America and any agency thereof and any other legal entity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 38 Sec. 542
2. Reimburse. Reimburses the department for any disbursement made from the fund in connection with the discharge pursuant to section 551, subsection 5, paragraph B within 30 days of demand.
