- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Automobile: means a motor vehicle designed for the conveyance of passengers that has a seating capacity of not more than 15 persons, including the operator. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101
- Bureau: means the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101
- Business location: means a permanent enclosed building in which the business involving transporter or loaner licenses may be lawfully carried on in accordance with the terms of all applicable building codes and zoning and other land use regulatory ordinances. - Catalytic converter: means a device installed in the exhaust system of a motor vehicle that uses a catalyst to convert pollutant gases into less harmful gases. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Dealer: means a person engaged in the business of buying, selling, exchanging or offering to negotiate, negotiating or advertising the sale of a vehicle or industrial equipment and who has:

A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 851Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006. Food system: means all processes, infrastructure and persons involved in feeding a population, including growing, harvesting, collecting, processing, manufacturing, packaging, transporting, marketing, selling, consuming and disposing of food and food-related items in the State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 320-A Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another. Full-time employee: means any person who is employed and works at least 30 hours per week. Person: means an individual, corporation, firm, partnership, joint venture, association, fiduciary, trust, estate or any other legal or commercial entity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 2001 Producer: means a person in the State that grows, manufactures, harvests or otherwise creates agricultural, food or forest products and value-added products, including a person engaged in farming, harvesting or other agricultural and forestry manufacturing activities. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 320-A Public law: A public bill or joint resolution that has passed both chambers and been enacted into law. Public laws have general applicability nationwide. Public way: means a way, owned and maintained by the State, a county or a municipality, over which the general public has a right to pass. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business. Registration: means the registration certificate, plates and renewal devices pertaining to the registration of a vehicle, including temporary registered gross weight increases. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Sell: means to sell, offer, negotiate or advertise to sell, display for sale, exchange or otherwise transfer for value. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Semitrailer: includes , but is not limited to, so-called pole dollies and pole dickeys and wheels commonly used as a support for the ends of logs or other long articles. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system. Supply chain: means the chain of distribution by which agricultural, food and forest products are moved from the producer to the consumer and may include intermediate entities, including aggregators of various products, manufacturers, value-added producers, processors, packagers, warehouse operators and other storage entities, distributors, wholesalers and retailers. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 320-A Town: includes cities and plantations, unless otherwise expressed or implied. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72 Tractor: means a motor vehicle used primarily off the highway for farming, forestry or other similar types of activities. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Traffic: means pedestrians, ridden or herded animals, vehicles, bicycles and other conveyances either singly or together using public way for travel. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Trailer: means a vehicle without motive power, designed to carry persons or property and to be drawn by a motor vehicle, not operated on railroad tracks, and so constructed that no part of its weight rests upon the towing vehicle. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Trailer dealer: means a dealer whose primary business is the buying and selling of new or used trailers or semitrailers, or both. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 851 Truck: means a motor vehicle designed and used primarily to carry property. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Truck tractor: means a motor vehicle designed and used exclusively to draw other vehicles and not constructed to carry a load other than a part of the weight of the vehicle and the load drawn. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 7 Sec. 320-A Vehicle: means a device for conveyance of persons or property on a way. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 101 Vehicle auction: means selling a vehicle by bidding at a public or private sale. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 851 Vehicle auction business: means a business that operates a vehicle auction for gain or compensation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 29-A Sec. 851 Wrecker: means a motor vehicle with hoisting apparatus and special equipment designed and used for towing or carrying wrecked or disabled vehicles or freeing vehicles stalled or stuck in snow, mud or sand, when such a motor vehicle in fact is being used for one of those purposes.
