Terms Used In Michigan Laws 124.557

  • City: means a city incorporated under the home rule city act, 1909 PA 279, MCL 117. See Michigan Laws 124.542
  • Public transportation: means the movement of individuals and goods by publicly owned bus, rapid transit vehicle, or other conveyance that provides general or special service to the public, but not including school buses or charter or sightseeing service or transportation that is used exclusively for school purposes. See Michigan Laws 124.542
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
  The costs of planning, administering, constructing, reconstructing, financing, and maintaining state, county, city, and village roads, streets, and bridges designed primarily for the use of motor vehicles using tires, including the costs of reasonable appurtenances to those state, county, city, and village roads, streets, and bridges, are a transportation purpose within the meaning of section 9 of article IX of the state constitution of 1963, when such costs are to facilitate a public transportation system that moves individuals or goods with vehicles using tires.
