Terms Used In Michigan Laws 247.861

  • Highway: means a highway, road or street. See Michigan Laws 247.851
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    The provisions for relinquishment of jurisdiction of a county road in section 18 of chapter 4 of Act No. 283 of the Public Acts of 1909, as amended, being section 224.18 of the Compiled Laws of 1948, and for abandonment of a state trunk line highway in section 4 of Act No. 12 of the Public Acts of 1925, being section 250.114 of the Compiled Laws of 1948, are superseded except as provided in section 10.
