  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    The director of markets shall investigate production and marketing farm products and for the exercise of such authority shall have the power to summon witnesses, issue subpoenas, compel attendance of witnesses and the production of evidence. The director of markets shall assist in organization of cooperative and other associations for improving the relations and services among producers, distributors and consumers and afford them such services under adequate rules and regulations as relate to standardizing, grading, packing, handling, storage and sale of products within the state of Michigan not contrary to law, and enforce such rules and regulations by actions or proceedings in any court of competent jurisdiction.
