Terms Used In Michigan Laws 324.21505
- Authority: means the underground storage tank authority created in section 21523. See Michigan Laws 324.21502
- Refined petroleum: means aviation gasoline, middle distillates, jet fuel, kerosene, gasoline, residual oils, and any oxygenates that have been blended with any of these. See Michigan Laws 324.21503
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. The legislature finds that releases from underground storage tanks are a significant cause of contamination of the natural resources, water resources, and groundwater in this state. The purpose of this part and of the authority created by this part is to preserve and protect the water resources of the state and to prevent, abate, or control the pollution of water resources and groundwater, to protect and preserve the public health, safety, and welfare, and to assist in the financing of corrective actions due to releases from refined petroleum underground storage tank systems.
