As used in this part:
  (a) “Low-grade iron ore” means iron-bearing rock in the Upper Peninsula of this state that is not merchantable as ore in its natural state and from which merchantable ore can be produced only by beneficiation or treatment.

  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.   (b) “Low-grade iron ore mining property” includes the ore beneficiation or treatment plant and other necessary buildings, facilities, and lands located in the Upper Peninsula of this state.
