  • Certification: means certification issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to a nursing home as evidence that the nursing home complies with requirements under federal law for participation in Medicare. See Michigan Laws 333.22101
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.   (1) The department shall administer the certification process in this state in conformance with 42 USC 1395aa and the “mission and priority document” and “state operations manual” published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
