  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories.    Resolved (the House concurring), That the Governor is hereby requested to call the attention of the people of this State to the importance of planting trees for ornament and shade, by naming a day upon which this work shall be given special attention, to be known as “Arbor Day.”
