  • Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
   Any surety who shall swear falsely to any of the material facts set up in his affidavit of justification shall be deemed guilty of perjury and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished in accordance with the law in such case made and provided.
